"He Plants Trees to Benefits Another Generation"- Caecilius Statius
Arbor Day is a day set aside for celebrating TREES! In Illinois, we celebrate each year on the last Friday in April. It's a day to promote awareness and plant trees throughout the country. Arbor Day began in 1872 in Nebraska as a way to plant trees in this states treeless plains. J. Sterling Morton declared "to set aside one day to plant trees, both forest, and fruit." and the State Board of Agriculture accepted.
iTrees.com uses Arbor Day to educate our community about the importance of trees and bring awareness to the great benefits trees bring to our health and community. We get together each year with different organizations, foundation, schools, and other groups to plant trees on Arbor Day. This is always a fun day for us to teach others about what we love...TREES!
Local Community School Arbor Day Plantings
Educating our youth on Arbor Day is always fun. Since our youth is the next generation, it is important for us to teach children to plant trees. Watching students plant their own trees is very exciting for us and it is a day we look forward to each year. We have planted trees with community Girl Scout Troops as well as partnered with Spring Grove Nursery to plant trees with many local schools.
Waubonsee Community College Arbor Day Planting
Waubonsee Community College has asked iTrees.com to help with their Arbor Day celebration for a few years. Waubonsee Community College is a "Tree Campus USA" member and in order to keep this status, they plan a tree planting celebration each year. One year we helped plant an Autumn Blaze Maple on campus with the Colleges administration and students. Another year, they had local elementary school classes come to their campus and help with the planting of several trees on campus. We take these opportunities to teach the importance of trees.
